Keith Relf

Keith Relf ( born March 22, 1943 in Richmond, Surrey, England; † May 14, 1976 in London) was an English musician and singer. He was known primarily as a singer and harmonica player of the band The Yardbirds.

Career

In 1963 he formed the band The Yardbirds, when played along with other Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page. With her 1966 album, The Yardbirds (aka Roger The Engineer ), they set new standards in the psychedelic blues rock.

Early 1968, the band had no plate on the charts, Jimmy Page wanted to form their own band, as it was doing well Relf.

On July 7, 1968 Relf dissolved the Yardbirds. As The New Yardbirds, the band still existed until the end of the year as a tour was yet to finish. The New Yardbirds called themselves the end of 1968 in order to Led Zeppelin. Relf was co-founder of the band Renaissance, with which he recorded two albums in 1969 and 1971. Singer of this band was his sister Jane Relf.

Relfs next band was 1975 Armageddon. Before the recording of their second album Relf died at his home after an electric shock through an ungrounded electric guitar. The fact that this accident had happened in the bathtub, is a common but false legend.
