Kelly Kisio
Kelvin Wade " Kelly" Kisio ( born September 18, 1959 in Wetaskiwin, Alberta ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player. During his career he played for the Detroit Red Wings, New York Rangers, San Jose Sharks and Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League. Since 1998 he has been general manager of the Calgary Hitmen of the Western Hockey League.
Career
Kisio played at the beginning of his career in 1976 in the Alberta Junior Hockey League and the Western Hockey League. Ungedraftet he joined the 1980/81 season with the Kalamazoo Wings in the International Hockey League and in the course of the year to the Adirondack Red Wings, a farm team of the Detroit Red Wings in the American Hockey League. After a season in the Central Hockey League with the Dallas Blackhawks of the Canadians tried to start the 1982/83 season his luck at HC Davos in the Swiss National League in Europe A. There made the center with his performances attracted attention and early March 1983 he eventually signed a contract with the Detroit Red Wings. Kisio remained until the summer of 1986 in Detroit, before he was released in a large barter to the New York Rangers. In the Big Apple he had his best career with 78 points in the season 1987/88.
In summer 1991, the Canadian was then expansion draft of the Minnesota North Stars selected in the NHL that a few days later transferred him to the newly formed franchise of the San Jose Sharks. After a mixed first season for the team and himself, equaling the versatile striker in the 1992/93 season his personal points record and received an invitation to the NHL All-Star Game. However, the poor performance of the team again, he could not prevent. In August 1993 Kisio then left the Sharks and went to the Calgary Flames. After a stubborn shoulder injury that had put him in the already shortened season long out of action, he finished his career.
After end of his career he worked as a scout for the Flames. In 1998 he assumed the post of General Manager of the Calgary Hitmen of the WHL, who belong to the organization of the Calgary Flames. From 2004 to 2008 he was also the head coach of the team. Since then Kisio concentrated solely on his duties as general manager of the Calgary Hitmen.
