Kelly Slater

Robert Kelly Slater ( born February 11, 1972 in Cocoa Beach, Florida ) is an American professional surfer and eleven times world champion in professional surfing ASP.

Sporting career

Kelly Slater won the 1992 than before the recent Surfer the World Cup. With five titles in a row Slater dominated the professional scene in the surfing from 1994 to 1998. Afterwards, he announced his resignation because he had achieved everything and destroy him his own ambition. In the following years, he traveled around the world and turned among other alternative surf movies. The early 2000s, his father became ill with cancer; Slater moved his comeback to to take care of this.

2003, the year of his comeback, he lost in the last contest of the season the title to Andy Irons, which also meant his worst defeat. In 2005, Kelly Slater had worked his way up to his old form, winning his seventh title overall. His eighth title he secured early on 13 October 2006 at the contest in Mundaka. The ninth title he secured also in the contest in Mundaka on 3 October 2008. U.S. citizen thus has won more world championships than any surfer before. In 2010, Slater was able to secure his 10th world title for the ninth of ten events in the ASP World Tour. He succeeded by a brilliant victory ( 18.87 out of a maximum possible 20 points ) in the quarterfinals of the event in Puerto Rico. Its distance to his great fellow competitors Jordy Smith was so unaufholbar.

The world title he won in 1992, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2011.

Kelly Slater was romantically involved with Pamela Anderson and Gisele Bundchen, and is therefore often referred to in the media as a womanizer.

His surfing talent helped him also to jump into television. From 1992 to 1993 he played for one season in the television series Baywatch with. A computer game is named after him and he is a playable character in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3, but it occurs with a surfboard. Kelly Slater has a multi-million dollar advertising contracts; his main sponsor is Quiksilver, where it owns 3 % of the shares
