Kelly VanderBeek

Kelly VanderBeek ( born January 21, 1983 in Kapuskasing, Ontario ) is a former Canadian alpine skier. She specializes in the speed disciplines Downhill and Super- G and reached three podium finishes in the World Cup.

Biography

First international successes celebrated VanderBeek at the Junior World Championships in 2002 and 2003, where they finished third in the Super- G, respectively. As of November 2001, she regularly took part in the race for the Ski World Cup.

The biggest success of her career she succeeded at the Olympic Winter Games in 2006, when they surprisingly went in Super G from San Sicario to fourth place. In the end, she lay back just three hundredths of a second behind the bronze medalist Alexandra Meissnitzer.

In the World Cup three times VanderBeek reached a place on the podium: the Super - G in Lake Louise in December 2006, she was third, on the slopes in St. Anton in December 2007 and in Sestriere in February 2008, she was each second. On the Super -G of Hafjell in March 2006, although she lost only one hundredth of a second on the victories of time, but was still only Fourth, there were three winners with the exact same time.

On 17 December 2009 VanderBeek suffered in downhill training in Val d'Isere a torn ACL and other injuries in his left knee. She had to pause for two years and only returned in January 2012, back in the World Cup. But you no longer reached their previous achievements and announced her resignation in January 2013.
