Kelvin Davis

Kelvin Geoffrey Davis ( born September 29, 1976 in Bedford ) is an English football player who is under contract with the current English first division club FC Southampton since 2006.

Playing career

Luton Town FC and Wimbledon (1994-2003)

Kelvin Davis debuted in the 1993/94 season for Luton Town in the Football League First Division second-rate. After three years as a substitute goalkeeper, he played 1997/98 thirty-two league games for his now playing in the third division team. 1998/99 ended the 22 -year-old goalkeeper (44 league games) with Luton third league season as Tabellenzwölfter.

On 14 July 1999 Davis moved for £ 600,000 transfer fee for first division club FC Wimbledon. For his new club, he stayed in the Premier League 1999/2000 League without use and increased with the team from London as a third from last in the second division. After the descent Kelvin Davis became the first-choice goalkeeper, but missed Wimbledon with a table of eight returning to the Premier League. In the two subsequent seasons he remained the space between the posts of his team in 2003 before he left the club. Ipswich Town and Sunderland (2003-2006)

On 6 August 2003, the free transfer goalkeeper moved to the second division Ipswich Town and signed a three-year contract. With his new team pulled Davis (45 league games) in fifth in the play-offs in 2003 /04, but failed there early to West Ham United. After a third place in the newly introduced Football League Championship 2004/ 05 and a renewed from in the first play-off round against West Ham, Davis moved on 14 June 2006 for £ 1.25 million transfer fee for Erstligaaufsteiger Sunderland AFC. As an award for his excellent performance, he was elected into the PFA Team of the Year the second division. In the Premier League 2005 /06 coach Mick McCarthy put him on a regular basis, but Sunderland did not get along in the new league and rose as severed Table again in the second division.

Southampton FC (2006 -)

After an unfortunate person for him season of the now 29- year-old goalkeeper joined on 21 July 2006 for second division FC Southampton. With Southampton he reached a sixth place in the Football League Championship 2006/07 play-offs, but failed in the first round on penalties to Derby County. After a significant deterioration of performance in 2007 /08, the team from the south of England 2008/ 09 rose in the Football League Championship starting in the third league. There the club in 2010 missed to the Kelvin Davis elected to the PFA Team of the Year 's return to the second division. After a performance increase in the Football League One 2010 /11 again selected in the Team of the Year goalkeeper with Southampton reached the runner-up, and thus the rise.

The still standing until 2014 in Southampton under contract Davis could build with his team in the Football League Championship 2011/ 12 to the good performance and is nearing the end of season from the direct walkover in the Premier League.
