Ken Howard

Kenneth Joseph Howard, Jr. ( born March 28, 1944 in El Centro, California) is an American actor.

Life

Howard grew up in Manhasset, New York. After high school, he attended Amherst College and studied drama at Yale University. However, he abandoned his studies in favor of a commitment in the Broadway production of Neil Simon's Promises, Promises prematurely. From 1969 to 1972 he played in a total of 1217 performances Thomas Jefferson in 1776. He received for his portrayal of Jefferson's 1969 Theatre World Award, the following year he was honored for Child's Play Tony Award. Howard played until the mid-1970s continued to meet regularly on Broadway, but also pursued a film and television career. In 1973, he starred with Blythe Danner starred in the sitcom Adams saucy rib, which was based on the feature film Adam's Rib with Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn. The series, however, was discontinued after 13 episodes. The following year he played the lead role in the crime series The Manhunter, which was canceled after the first season. Between 1978 and 1981 he played the lead role in the twice Emmy nominees series The White Shadow.

In 1981 he received his first Emmy for his performance in the children's program The Body Human: Facts for Boys. From 1985 to 1986 he played Garrett Boydston in Dynasty and in the spin-off The Empire - The Colbys. In the 1990s, he starred in the blockbuster The cartel and the network. Larger notoriety in Germany he gained through his portrayal of Max Cavanaugh, the Father of the medical examiner Dr. Jordan Cavanaugh in the series Crossing Jordan - pathologist with profile. In 2009 he received his second Emmy Award for Grey Gardens.
