Ken Kwapis

Kenneth William " Ken " Kwapis ( born August 17, 1957 in Belleville, Illinois ) is an American film and television director.

Life and work

Kenneth William Kwapis was born in August 1957 in Belleville in the U.S. state of Illinois. He graduated from the USC School of Cinematic Arts. In 1982 he was awarded for his graduation film at the Student Academy Awards. His debut as a director, he was in 1983 with the staging of an episode of the series CBS Afternoon Playhouse. Two years later, he turned with Bibos adventurous escape his first feature film. It was followed by various film and television productions, where he focuses primarily on comedy. So Kwapis directed, for example, in the years 2000 to 2004 twenty episodes of the TV series Malcolm in the Middle.

For the production of an episode of the television series The Office, Kwapis was nominated for an Emmy in 2002.
