Ken Macintosh

Kenneth Macintosh, mostly Ken or Kenny Macintosh, ( born January 15, 1962 in Inverness ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Labour Party.

Life

Macintosh attended the Royal High School in Edinburgh and then studied history at the University of Edinburgh. He then worked as a producer in the message area for the BBC. He is a father of six and lives with his wife in Busby.

Political career

In the first Scottish Parliament elections in 1999 Macintosh first came to elections at the national level. He applied for the direct mandate of the constituency Eastwood and could win just before the candidate of the conservatives. In the parliamentary elections in 2003 and 2007 Macintosh defended his credentials .. After the election, he served initially for four months as party spokesman on education and young people, and then to the end of its term as deputy party spokesman for the school system. In the Scottish Parliament elections in 2011 Macintosh defended again its mandate for Eastwood and was able to increase its share of the vote for the first time. In the shadow cabinet of the Labour Party, he is provided as Secretary of State for Schools.
