Kenai-Fjords-Nationalpark
The Kenai Fjords National Park is a national park in the U.S. on the Kenai Peninsula in southern Alaska. In the park the Harding Icefield, the largest icefield located in the United States.
The park is famous for the 1600 meter high mountain Kenai, which is completely covered by the 777 km ² Harding Icefield. The ice extends in the form of several glaciers down to the waters of the sea.
The temperatures in the rainy summer are on average between 10 ° C and 15 ° C.
The National Park 966 km of coastline, despite an area of 2680 km ², is the smallest National Park in Alaska. It was founded on December 2, 1980 under the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act.
