Kenichi Horie
Kenichi Horie ( Ken'ichi Horie, born September 8, 1938 in Osaka ) is a Japanese sailor and explorer who deals with single crossings and alternative drive concepts in shipping.
Life and career
Horie was known in 1962 by his Alleinüberseglung of the Pacific. 1996 crossed Horie with a solar-powered boat from Ecuador to Tokyo again the Pacific, 2002, he repeated the journey in the opposite direction ( from Japan to San Francisco); he used to a sailboat made from recycled whiskey bottles. The Suntory Mermaid II he again came in 2008 with a catamaran, which was driven solely by the energy of the waves, a Pacific crossing.
