Kenji Ogiwara

Kenji Ogiwara (Japanese荻 原 健 司, Kenji Ogiwara, born December 20, 1969 in Kusatsu, Agatsuma District, Gunma Prefecture) is a former Japanese Nordic combined and politicians. From 2004 to 2010 he was a deputy in the Sangiin, the House of Lords, the Liberal Democratic Party ( LDP). In the 2004 election Sangiin Ogiwara candidate for the LDP on the proportional representation list. With around 195 thousand preference votes he reached number 9 on the LDP list and was thus chosen safely. In the short-lived reshuffled cabinet of Prime Minister Abe and Yasuo Fukuda, he was from 2007 to 2008 parliamentary secretary ( seimukan ) in the Ministry of Economy. In the 2010 election Sangiin Ogiwara did not run for a second term as an MP.

Sports career

Ogiwara next Bjarte Engen Vik applies as the best Nordic Combiner 1990s. He has already achieved the overall World Cup in his second season and won this in the two following years. As a member of the Japanese team, he was double Olympic champion and also won four world titles (two singles, two crew ). However, an individual gold medal at the Olympic Winter Games was denied.

In recognition of his achievements Ogiwara was honored as the first Japanese to the Holmenkollen medal. In addition, he spoke at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano Olympic oath on behalf of all participating athletes. In these competitions in their home country, however, he had to settle for a fourth place in the individual on the normal hill. In 2002 he retired from competitive sports. Ogiwara was able to celebrate a total of 19 World Cup victories in eleven years:
