Kenkichi Oshima

Kenkichi Ōshima (Japanese大 岛 镰 吉; born November 10, 1908 in Kanazawa, † 30 March 1985) was a Japanese triple jumper.

At the Olympic Games 1932 in Los Angeles, he won the bronze medal with 15.12 m behind compatriot Nambu Chūhei, who set a world record with 15.72 meters, and the Swede Erik Svensson ( 15.32 m).

In 1934 he became Master of Far Eastern and introduced on 1 October in Seoul with 15.63 meters his personal best. In 1936, he was sixth at the Olympic Games in Berlin.

After his playing career, the graduate of Kansai University was initially a sports journalist for the Mainichi Shimbun and finally professor at the Sports University in Osaka. Since 1949 he was a member of the Japanese Olympic Committee. At the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964, he was a senior instructor of the Japanese team. In 1982 he was awarded the Hans- Heinrich Sievert price.
