Kenkichi Sonogashira

Kenkichi Sonogashira (Japanese薗 头 健 吉, Sonogashira Kenkichi; born October 25, 1931 in Kagoshima Prefecture ) studied chemistry at the University of Osaka in Japan, he served 1981-1995 as a professor at the City University of Osaka. Sonogashira discovered named after him Sonogashira coupling, a palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling between aryl halides and terminal alkynes.

Sonogashira retired in 2004.
