Kenmare

Kenmare (irish At Neidin, " the nest " ) is a town in the civil parish of Kenmare (Irish Ceann Mara, " marine head") in the south of County Kerry in the Republic of Ireland, with 1,701 inhabitants ( 2006). It is heavily influenced by tourism and a good starting point for tours to the Iveragh peninsulas ( Ring of Kerry) and Beara.

The present city was founded in 1670 by Sir William Petty, 1st Marquis of Lansdowne. Three major roads form a triangle in which the center is: William Street (now Main Street ), Henry Street (named after the son of Williams) and Shelbourne Street, which is named after the Earl of Shelbourne.
