Kenneth Edgeworth

Kenneth Essex Edgeworth ( born February 26, 1880 in Daramona House, Streete, County Westmeath, Ireland, † October 10, 1972 in Dublin) was an Irish astronomer who first published the theory of the currently known Kuiper belt.

Edgeworth published his work The evolution of our planetary system, which is considered the first reference for a reservoir of comets beyond the orbits of the planets in the solar system in 1943. There it developed the concept of the so-called Kuiper belt, sometimes called in Ireland and Great Britain as Edgeworth - Kuiper belt.
