Kenny Burns

Kenneth "Kenny" Burns ( born September 23, 1953 in Glasgow, Scotland ) is a former Scottish football player who was particularly known for his time at Nottingham Forest.

Birmingham City

Kenny Burns started in 1971 his career as a professional footballer with Birmingham City, where he worked as a defender. After Bob Latchford in 1974 moved to Everton, but he took over his position in the attack and was able to convince up there. After the climb in his first season in Birmingham Burns acted from the 1972/73 season in the premier league. His team found itself in the coming years, mostly in the lower third of the table again and had frequently tremble to avoid relegation. After the 1976/77 season, Burns decided a change to Nottingham Forest, who had just achieved promotion to the first division.

Nottingham Forest

In the Football League First Division 1977/78 his team managed to sensation, to win the championship as promoted ahead of FC Liverpool. Training was the team of Brian Clough, with the Forest late 70s or early 80s had its most successful period in the club's history. Kenny Burns, now back working as a defender, together with Larry Lloyd formed the central defense and put it the basis of the champion team. As a special award to him was given the choice to the English Footballer of the Year in 1978. Leeds United

Burns moved for a transfer fee of £ 400,000 to his new club. The start for Leeds was not promising, as the club was relegated at the end of the season as third from bottom in the second division from. His team came in the next two years, not the promotion back to the First Division and Kenny Burns came not as usual in his new team to develop. Consequently, he decided to change to another club and joined the third division side Derby County.

Derby County

After the season for Derby in the Third Division, with an interim loan deal at Notts County, Burns decided again for a change. He had come in the past season used regularly and wanted to once again prove in a higher league. Therefore His path led him to the second division FC Barnsley. With Barnsley, he spent the next year in mid-table and came anyway to 21 league operations. Meanwhile, almost 33 years old, he spent the next few years after a short trip to IF Elfsborg as player-coach for various amateur clubs. In 1993, he finally ended his career.
