Kenny Everett

Kenny Everett ( born December 25, 1944 in Seaforth, Merseyside; † April 4, 1995 in London; civil Maurice James Christopher Cole ) was a popular English radio DJ and television entertainer.

Life

Everett began the pirate radio station Radio London as a DJ in December 1964. Along with Dave Cash, he hosted there the The Kenny and Cash Show. In August 1966, he was allowed - along with representatives of other pirate radio stations - accompany the Beatles on their last U.S. tour. In March 1967 he joined the English service of Radio Luxembourg. His earthy humor on the air always gave him trouble, which forced him to change the channel. Everett married the singer Lee 'Lady Lee ' Middleton, Billy Fury's former girlfriend, in 1969.

After spells at Radio Monte Carlo and some British local radio stations, he finally landed at Capital Radio, as the station was established on 16 October 1973.

In his work as a DJ at the London station Capital Radio he was asked by the group Queen in October 1975 for advice because of the exceptional length of the as yet unpublished piece Bohemian Rhapsody. Queens record company was afraid because of the extra length that the proposed single on the radio airplay would not get. Everett played the song 14 times during a weekend, the response was overwhelming. Then the single on October 31, 1975 was published and became the Evergreen.

In 1978 he went to BFBS to Cologne.

1979 Everett separated from Lee Middleton and known mid-1980s to his homosexuality.

Everett learned in 1989 by his AIDS disease, and gave it in 1993 to the public. He died on 4 April 1995 at the age of 50 years at an AIDS-related illness in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, London.
