Kenny Larkin

Kenny Larkin ( born 1968 in Detroit ) is an American techno producer and DJ. He is now regarded as the third wave of Detroit techno producers and contributed to the mid-1990s, with its unconventional Publications crucial to the establishment of intelligent techno genres in.

Biography

Already at school learned Larkin about his school friend Terrence Parker know the resulting Detroit techno scene. His own musical career, however, began only in 1990, after he had served between 1986 and 1988 in the United States Air Force. He returned to his hometown of Detroit, where he wanted to work as a stand- up comedian. In 1989 he met Richie Hawtin know. Larkin bought his first synthesizer, a Yamaha DX 7 and produced his own techno pieces.

His first singles released Larkin then Hawtin Label Plus 8 After releases on Derrick May's Transmat label Larkin moved to the UK electronica label Warp Records, his first album in 1994 on the azimuth appeared. In the coming years, singles and albums followed on R & S, KMS and Peacefrog.

On November 17, 1994 Larkin was shot in Detroit by two unknowns. After a twelve hour surgery his life could be saved. End of the 1990s, Larkin withdrew from the techno scene and also produced no further pieces more. He moved to Los Angeles and turned increasingly to stand- up comedy to.

Only in 2004 appeared with The Narcissist a new album soon followed by more singles and EPs. He currently works as a resident DJ at Laugh Factory club in Los Angeles.
