Kensaku Morita

Kensaku Morita (Japanese森田 健 作, Kensaku Morita, born December 16, 1949 in Ōta, Tokyo Prefecture as Eiji Suzuki (铃木 栄 治) ) is a Japanese actor and politician. He is since 2009 the Governor of Chiba.

Life

Morita, a graduate of Meiji Gakuin University, his acting career began in 1969 in the Shochiku film Yuzuki. After that, he also played leading roles in several television series. In the 1990s, he moved into politics: From 1992 he represented for an election period, the Tokyo prefecture in Sangiin, the House of Lords. In 1998 he won the by-election in the 4th electoral district in Tokyo Shūgiin, the lower house, for the hanged shōkei Arai. Morita was, with interruptions of the Liberal Democratic Party ( LDP). He was in the 1990s, among other Parliamentary Secretary ( seimujikan ) in the agency for the development of Okinawa and the Ministry of Education.

In the 2003 election Shūgiin Morita no longer went to in order to apply for a post of governor. In the gubernatorial elections in Chiba 2005, he challenged incumbent Akiko Domoto and just going down to around 6,000 votes difference. As Domoto four years later did not run, he won the election on 29 March 2009 clearly before Taira Yoshida, who had been supported by the opposition parties at the national level, and three other candidates. He took office on April 5, 2009.
