Kensey Johns, Jr.

Kensey Johns Jr. ( born December 10, 1791 in New Castle, Delaware, † March 28, 1857 ) was an American politician. Between 1827 and 1831 he represented the State of Delaware in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Kensey Johns, had classical training. By 1810, he attended Princeton University, which was then called Princeton College; after a subsequent law degree, he was admitted to the bar in 1813. He then began to practice in his new profession in his hometown of New Castle. Politically, he was a supporter of President John Quincy Adams and a member of the National Republican Party.

Following the resignation of Congressman Louis McLane, who joined the U.S. Senate, John was chosen as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives. After a re-election in 1828 he was able to remain between 2 October 1827 to 3 March 1831 Congress. 1830 renounced Johns on another candidacy.

In 1832, Kensey Johns was appointed councilor of Delaware. It is a government official who dealt with legal matters. This office he held until his death in 1857. Johns also judge was in a guardianship court and an appeals court.
