Kensington Market (London)

Kensington Market was a three-story indoor market in Kensington High Street 49, in Kensington, London, England.

In the 1960s and 1970s the building ( colloquially Kenny Ken Market or Market) has been a magnet for alternative crops, especially for hippies and the bohemian. From the 1980s until the end of 1990 there were stores for used and new clothing, record stores, billiards and game room, art galleries, cafes, hairdressers and tattoo artists for a clientele of punks, metalheads, ravers, goths and supporters of the New Romantic, trance and Acid House and followers of other subcultures of modern music, fashion, hair styles, body art, rock 'n ' roll clothing, fetishism and accessories of all kinds

From 1971 to 1975 operated Freddie Mercury and Roger Taylor (of the rock band Queen), a fashion boutique in Kensington Market.

Early 2000, Kensington Market was closed, the building stood empty, decayed and was demolished in 2001. From May 2003 to March 2005 there is a new business building was built.
