Kent Nielsen

Kent Nielsen ( born December 28, 1961 in Frederiksberg ) is a Danish football coach and former player. Since October 2010, he coached the team of Aalborg BK.

Playing career

Kent Nielsen began his career at Brønshøj BK, where he made 230 league games in six years. His good performances in this period paved him the way to the Danish national team. In 1986 he then moved to Copenhagen at Brøndby IF, one of today's most successful football clubs his home country. At the time Brøndby Nielsen had recently for the first time ever won the Danish championship. With the defender followed in 1987 and 1988 two more. In 1989, Nielsen went on to win the national cup in his last year in Copenhagen. After this success, he moved to Aston Villa in England, and thus for the first time abroad. National

For the Danish national team graduated from Kent Nielsen 1983-1992 over 50 games. At the World Cup in Mexico in 1986 he belonged to the squad of the team, but came to no use. In 1992, he won the European Championship with the Danes sensational after his team was disqualified nachgerückt for the Yugoslav team as a replacement team without preparation. Coaching career

1997 Nielsen started his coaching career with a commitment to Grenaa IF. After three years he returned in 2000 returned to his former club Aarhus GF and was there in 2000 for a short time assistant coach. For the season 2002/ 02 he took over the coaching job at second division AC Horsens. With the club he joined in 2005 in the Super League on. A year later, he was voted Denmark's coach of the year 2006. In 2009 he took over Brøndby IF, where he had signed a contract until 30 June 2012. Brøndby, however, did not reach the qualification for an international competition and was eliminated early in the national cup, so that Nielsen had to leave his post in March 2010.
