Kentaro Miura

Kentaro Miura (Japanese三浦 建 太郎, Kentaro Miura, born July 11, 1966 in Chiba Prefecture, Japan) is a Japanese manga artist.

During elementary school, he drew first cartoon characters in school books and wrote his first series, which appeared in 40 episodes in a school newspaper. In 1982 he published his first dōjinshi in a fanzine and took art classes. From 1985 on, he studied arts at Nihon University, the same year won the Manga Futatabi an award at the 34th competition for new writers of Shōnen Magazine. In 1989, Miura graduated successfully.

A year later appeared Berserk for the first time, initially only with moderate success. Following the release of the manga in Japan, which was developed in collaboration with the author Buronson, Kentaro Miura devoted himself exclusively to Berserk, whose publication in the manga magazine Young Animal was so successful that soon appeared first licensed editions abroad.

For Berserk by Kentaro Miura received the 2002 Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize - in category award for excellent manga.
