Keny Arkana

Keny Arkana ( born December 20, 1982 in Boulogne- Billancourt ) is a French rapper from Marseille. Her lyrics are very political, it takes a clear stand against capitalism, fascism and globalization. It sympathizes with the Zapatistas of Mexico. She is also active in the anti-globalization movement La Rage du Peuple.

Life

Keny Arkana is the daughter of Argentine immigrants. She grew up in Marseilles, where she started the mid 90s to rap.

Music career

In 1996, she joins the collective Etat Major, with which it collects numerous stage experience. They can be heard on the publication Volume 1 for the first time. She was also active in the field of crew Mars Patrie. In 2003 she started a solo career. In 2005 she released the mixtape " L' esquisse " which has sold more than 50,000 copies. Then she got a contract with Indi Because. In the fall of 2006 she released her first solo album Entre Ciment et Belle Etoile, from the end of the year alone 50,000 copies were sold.
