Kenyan legislative election, 1963
The parliamentary elections in Kenya in 1963 took place on 18 and 26 May in 1963 and were the last elections in Kenya still British before independence in the same year. Were elected MPs for the House of Representatives and the Senate. The Kenya African National Union (KANU ), under the leadership of the later years of President Jomo Kenyatta won 83 of 124 seats in the National Assembly and 18 of 38 seats in the Senate, an overwhelming majority of votes and seats. Five seats in the Assembly and three in the Senate remained vacant due to border conflicts with Somalia.
