Kepinski (crater)

31.67

Kępiński is an impact crater on the back side of the Moon and therefore can not be observed directly from Earth. It is located northwest of the crater Vernadskiy and northeast of Meggers.

The outer crater wall of Kępiński is by subsequent impacts, especially on the southwest side, slightly eroded. The interior walls fall to the crater floor from back to show no special features. The crater floor is dominated by a centrally located, bowl -shaped crater, which is slightly offset from the center to the northwest. The diameter of this central strike is less than half of Kepinski, although it also has a small outer wall.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1979 from the Polish astronomer Felicjan Kępiński.
