Keramik-Museum Berlin

The Ceramics Museum Berlin ( KMB ) is a museum of the city of Berlin. It was founded in 1990 and is since January 17, 2004 on the grounds of Schustehrusstraße 13 in the district of Charlottenburg district of the Charlottenburg -Wilmersdorf. Here renowned ceramists are shown in special designer classics and works.

History

The museum is housed in the oldest surviving town house in Charlottenburg Old Town. It was built in 1712 by a binding for the citizens houses model of the court architect of Goethe Eosander of King Frederick I.für Charlottenburg.

The restoration needy building with two courtyards in 1981 registered in the list of monuments of the Senate. On December 24, 1983, was an unauthorized demolition attempt, which was foiled by citizens at the last minute. The house was then taken over by the government under the leadership de Architekten Ulli Böhme with old building materials and techniques - now with a classical facade - reconstructed. The cost of this took over the state conservator.

Exhibitions

The museum presents the non-profit Friends of KMB, who has leased the premises from the district, its collections in constantly changing special exhibitions. Additional themed events complete the cultural offer.
