Kerron Clement celebrates the 2007 World Cup title

Kerron Stephon Clement (born 31 October 1985 in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago) is an American hurdler and sprinter.

Sports career

Clement emigrated as a teenager in the United States and attended high school in La Porte, Texas. He then studied at the University of Florida.

In March 2005, Clement presented in Fayetteville with 44.57 seconds on an indoor world record in the 400 -meter run. He thus undercutting the old world record of March 4, 1995 by Michael Johnson by 0.06 seconds.

Since 2005, Clement is a world leader in the 400 - meter hurdles. At the World Championships in Helsinki in 2005, he was next to James Carter and Félix Sánchez with the biggest favorites for the title. However, he frittered away the semi-finals and was thus placed in the finals to the unfavorable for the hurdle race 1. At the World Championships in Berlin in 2009 he successfully defended his world champion title. He won the final with a Weltjahresbestzeit of 47.91 seconds before Javier Culson in 48.09 seconds and Bershawn Jackson in 48.23 seconds. In addition, Clement took the 4 x 400 meters relay U.S. another gold medal at the World Championships in Berlin.
