Kerstin Thiele
Kerstin Thiele ( born August 26, 1986 in Riesa ) is a German judoka and Olympic silver medalist who competes for the JC Leipzig in the weight class up to 70 kg. She completed training in competitive sports project of the Federal Police, which she completed in 2010 as a police champion.
Career
Thiele won the 2005 U20 European Championships, 2007, she placed second in the U23 European Championships. In 2008 she won the bronze medal at the European Championships and at the World Team Championships. 2008, 2009 and 2013, the judoka won the German championship by JC Leipzig. At the European Championships in 2009 Thiele only lost in the final against the Frenchwoman Lucie Decosse and received the silver medal. In January 2011, Kerstin Thiele won in Sofia for the first time in a World Cup tournament.
The nomination for the 2012 Olympics Kerstin Thiele was preferred to the Berliner Iljana Marzok, although Marzok was in the world rankings before Thiele and was unlike Thiele entered the international qualification lists of the International Judo Federation. The decisive factor was Thiele's fifth-place finish at the Grand Prix tournament in Dusseldorf.
Her biggest success is the silver medal at the Olympic Games in London in 2012, where they reached the final as an outsider, in which they lost to the World Champion of 2010 and 2011 Lucie DeCosse.
In the first Judo Bundesliga Kerstin Thiele leads the women's team of Power Jucoclub Leipzig as captain.
