Kery James

Kery James ( born December 28, 1977 in Guadeloupe as Alix Mathurin ) is a French rapper with Haitian roots.

Biography

His father sees little future opportunities in Guadeloupe, which is why he sent the seven -year-old Alix and his mother and sister to Paris. After a short stay with a host family, the family Mathurin relates a small apartment in the Paris suburb of Orly.

The music, especially hip-hop, is fast becoming a great passion of the little Alix. At age eleven, he begins for the first time to write my own songs and is encouraged to rise from the rapper Manu Key. With two friends, he founded the group in 1990 Ideal Junior. 1995 following the accession to the rap collective Mafia K'1 Fry, which combines rapper from the suburb of Orly. With the 1998's album Le combat continue ideal J succeeds in France the breakthrough. Especially the title Hardcore, which is on the album, also provides outside the rap milieu for attention. The video for the song is even banned because of the harsh imagery.

After the dissolution of the ideal J in 1999 and the murder of a childhood friend Kery James decides to retire from the music business and to convert to Islam. Thanks to the support of his closest relatives versa Kery James but once again on the rap scene back in 2001 and brings his first solo album Si c'était à refaire out. His articles are now significantly influenced by the teachings of the Koran and are not as provocative as in times of Ideal J. With his second solo album Ma vérité Kery James is definitely one of the most famous artists in France. In early 2008 he released À l' ombre du show with business - his third solo album. This sold over 100,000 copies and received the Gold status. A year later, the next album, which is 5 in the French album reached the top charts with Réel.
