Kes (Film)

Kes is a socially critical drama film from 1969, which at the Youth Book And caught himself a hawk (English: A Kestrel for a Knave ) by Barry Hines is based. It is the second feature film by British film director Ken Loach.

Action

The 14 -year-old Billy Casper grew up in the town of Barnsley in northern England in poor conditions. He is bored and only gets bad grades in school. His life changes when he finds a small up hawks him. Every day he spends several hours with him and finds a friend in the bird of prey. The English teacher is aware of Billy Farthing after this, encouraged by him, gave a lecture on the breeding of " Kes " in the class. He is also the only one boiler with respect and not as a "toy " by Billy considered. One day, Billy is sent by his brother terrorizing the horses bet. Billy, however, buys with the money to eat something, so he brings his brother to a high betting profit. This then kills Kes.

Background

The film paints a bleak picture of the social conditions in the workers' districts of England. Labor and hopelessness characterize the society of that time. Ken Loach's film has a very documentary character, especially that arises because in addition to the teacher Farthing all roles are filled by non-professional actors.
