Kesklinn (Tallinn)

Kesklinn is the Estonian name of the district of Tallinn city center, one of the eight districts of the Estonian capital Tallinn. It was launched on 4 March 1993 to life.

The district Tallinn city center comprises mainly the center of Tallinn with the Old Town ( Vanalinn ) and the Cathedral Hill ( Toompea ) and the urban areas east of it.

December 31, 2011 lived in the district of 46 494 inhabitants. Of these, 73.8 % of Estonian native language and 22.6 % with Russian native language were .. The area is 30.6 km ². Of which 9.75 km ² belong to the lake Ülemiste and 2.9 km ² to the island Aegna.

The district Tallinn city center is divided into 21 municipalities (Estonian asumid ) Aegna, Juhkentali, Kadriorg, Kassisaba, Keldrimäe, Kitseküla, Kompassi, Luite, Maakri, Mõigu, Raua, Sadama, Sibulaküla, Südalinn, Tatari, Torupilli, Tõnismäe, Ülemistejärve, Uus maailm, Vanalinn and Veerenni.
