Ketupat

Ketupat is a dumpling -like rice dish from South East Asia. The most widespread is Ketupat in Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei and Singapore. In the Philippines, the dish is known as Bugnoy. It is served mainly to festivals, such as the breaking of the fast after the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan ( known as Hari Raya Aidilfitri there ).

Add a braided bag made of palm leaves into filled rice is cooked, the case expands so that it fills the bag and clumped. Serve Ketupat in this form and usually accompanied by Opor Ayam (chicken in coconut soup) or satay (meat skewers ).
