Kevin Martin (basketball)

Kevin Martin (actually Kevin Dallas Martin, Jr., born February 1, 1983 in Zanesville, Ohio ) is a 2.01 -foot-tall basketball player standing with the Minnesota Timberwolves under contract. He plays at the position of the Guards.

Childhood and college

Kevin had already become interested from an early age for basketball and played for Zanesville High School basketball. After graduating from high school, he went to the Western Carolina University, where he played three seasons. He scored an average of 23.3 points per game and was the first athlete of the Wester Varolina college that has ever logged into a professional draft. He is with 1838 points in the fourth most successful college player in history and his Best Colleges. Martin received several awards. He was selected to the All- District by the National Association of Basketball Coaches ( NABC ), was three times in a row in the first- team All- Southern Conference and won the Southern Conference scoring title as the best points scorer of the season. In his sophomore season (2002/ 03), he scored 22.8 points on average.

NBA career

Sacramento Kings (2004 - 2010)

2004 Martin was selected by the Sacramento Kings in the first round of the NBA draft. In his first season he was able to record 7.9 points per game. He could improve in the next three years to 20.2 points per game this value, thus he became one of the most important players of the Kings. On 28 August 2007, he extended his contract by 5 years for $ 55 million. In the 2007-2008 season he also collected an even 4.3 rebounds per game and also distributed to 2.2 assists per game. The union rate was satisfactory ( 47.3 % FG, 38.1% 3pt, and 84.4 % FT). He improved his points average by 9.4 points and hit 39 free throws in a row ( 3 to 15 November ). After Ron Artest was weggetradet 2008 by the Kings, Kevin Martin was the undisputed team leader of the Kings. On 1 April 2009 he set up a Career High 50 points in a game against the Golden State Warriors.

Houston Rockets (2010 - 2012)

On 18 February 2010, Martin was discharged from the Kings to the Houston Rockets. During his time in Houston reached Martin and the Rockets is not a single time the playoffs, although Martin led the team each season in points per game. 2011 was Martin just before a change to the New Orleans Hornets, but the transfer was vetoed by the NBA.

Oklahoma City Thunder (2012-2013)

On October 28, 2012 Martin was transferred to the Oklahoma City Thunder. In return, James Harden joined the Rockets. In the sixth game of the Western Conference Quarter Finals Martin scored a 103 to 94 victory against his old team 25 points.
