Kevin McCarthy (California politician)

Kevin McCarthy ( born January 26, 1965 in Bakersfield, California) is an American politician. Since 2007 he represents the state of California in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Kevin McCarthy attended until 1985, the Bakersfield College. Then he studied until 1994 at the local California State University. He then worked for Congressman Bill Thomas. Politically, McCarthy joined the Republican Party. Between 2002 and 2007 he was a deputy in the California State Assembly; 2004 to 2006 he headed the Republican faction.

In the congressional elections of 2006, McCarthy became the 22nd electoral district of California in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Thomas on January 3, 2007. After the previous two elections, he can exercise his mandate in Congress today. In 2010, it reached 98.8 % of the vote. In Congress, he sits in the Finance Committee and in two of its subcommittees. Since 2011 he is the Republican Whip majority faction.

McCarthy is married and has two children. He and his family lived privately in Bakersfield.
