Kevin Stewart (Scottish politician)

Kevin Stewart ( born June 3, 1968 in Aberdeen) is a Scottish politician and member of the Scottish National Party ( SNP).

Political career

Stewart was a member of the City Council of Aberdeen and at times its vice chairman for more than eleven years. He was active in the areas of finance and transport. He was also Chairman of the 3Rs Committee, which was responsible for the construction of ten schools in Aberdeen. Stewart is interested in the history of the city of Aberdeen and was the driving force behind the erection of a statue in honor of the Scottish freedom fighter and King Robert the Bruce.

For the first time Stewart joined the Scottish Parliament elections in 2011 at national level elections. In his constituency Aberdeen Central, he was by a narrow margin against the Labour candidate Lewis Macdonald, the highest number of votes and thus won the direct mandate of the constituency. Here, he could opt for the first time the SNP that constituency.
