Kewet EL Jet

The Kewet EL jet with the type numbering 1 to 5 is a product manufactured by the Danish company Kewet Industri three-door electric vehicle or electric car. After the bankruptcy in 1998 and moving to Norway, the vehicle and the name was changed to mitgekaufte Kewet Buddy.

However, there are still numerous EL Jet 1 to 5 in the Federal Republic in operation. The vehicle is small and therefore fits into small parking spaces, often in the transverse position inside. The mass ( 1-5 ) was 740-840 kg ( including lead-acid batteries, about 260 kg), plus about 160 kg to 250 kg payload possible.

History

The Danish Knud Erik Westergaard Industrial ( KEW ) has been very successful with KEW cleaning machines and industrial washing machines operating since 1971. He then sold his company in 1988 and began to construct a small affordable electric car. The first Kewet 1991 rolled off the production line in Ebeltoft / Denmark.

Since that time, about 800 Kewets different models - all pretty much the same looking, except for the color - produced in Ebeltoft. A larger production line was set up in 1995 in Nordhausen / Thuringia. Approximately 200 vehicles were produced before production was closed again. Problems with the German authorities and the inadequate disposal of vehicles meant that " Kewet Industri " and " Kewet sale" in 1998 went bankrupt. Then a company was founded ( " Kewet International"), which should move production back to Ebeltoft. To this end, it did not come, what the Norwegian merchant " Bil A / S", now " Elbil Norge A / S ," enabled in autumn 1998 to buy both the production line and the parts inventory and the naming rights to " Kewet ".
