Key (basketball)
Under a zone is understood as a basketball zone defense (see: zone defense ), which is limited by the basket and the three- point line.
In addition, under the baskets a rectangle is located. This rectangle, so the marked area, extending directly under the basket to the free throw line, also paint ( because it is colored usually ) or key called ( because its shape when viewed from above as a key looked to it in was widened the 1960s ). This zone is, inter alia, it important that players of the attacking team must continuously reside there no longer than 3 seconds.
Zone coverage
In zone coverage or zone defense, the space between the basket and the three- point line is divided into five zones. Here, each player has its own zone.
The five zones:
- Front Left
- Front Right
- Rear Left
- Back Right
- Center under the basket
- Basketball
