Key Biscayne is a village in Miami -Dade County in the U.S. state of Florida with 12,344 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

The municipality is located on the eponymous island of Key Biscayne, which is connected by the Florida State Road 913 to the mainland. The mainland is 10 km, which already belongs to Miami Virginia Key Island 5 km from the community. The town is bordered by Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, west of Biscayne Bay to the east by the Atlantic Ocean to the north by Crandon Park, in the south.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 12,344 inhabitants distributed to 7,072 households. The population density was 3740.6 inh. / Km ². 96.2 % of the population were white, 0.4% African American, 0.1% Native American and 1.1% Asian Americans. 1.0% were members of other ethnic groups and 1.2% in different ethnic groups. 61.6 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 33.0 % of all households lived in 38.5 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 71.7 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.62 persons and the average family size is 3.13 people.

29.7% of the population were younger than 20 years, 17.0% were 20-39 years old, 30.2% were 40-59 years old and 23.0 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 42 years. 46.4 % of the population were male and 53.6 % female.

The average annual income was $ 114,250, while 5.8 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 30.83 % of the population spoke Spanish 59.73 % and 9.44% had a different mother tongue.

Crime

The crime rate in 2010 was 91 points ( U.S. average: 266 points ) in the low range. There were two injuries, eight burglaries, thefts, and 170 car thefts 13.
