Kfar Szold (Hebrew כפר סאלד ) is a kibbutz in the Upper Galilee, Israel Huleebene in the north at the foot of the Golan Heights with 528 inhabitants ( December 2009).
History
Kfar Szold was founded on 13 November 1942 by immigrants from Hungary, Austria and Germany. The kibbutz was to Henrietta Szold, the founder of the Zionist women's movement Hadassah, named. During the Israeli War of Independence of 1948, the children living there were, in anticipation of Syrian attacks, evacuated. In the 1967 Six Day War Kfar Szold was a constant target for the Syrian artillery, which had taken on the Golan Heights position. On 21 July 2006, Hezbollah fired several Katyusha rockets at the located in the Huleebene communities, including Kfar Szold, where several people were injured.
Economy
Most important economic activities are the cultivation of apples, citrus fruits, avocados, corn, watermelons and cattle. Besides agriculture, the kibbutz operates the international metal factory LORDAN, specializing in the production of fin heat exchangers.
Like most kibbutzim also has Kfar Szold a guest house for tourists.
