Khabat

The revolutionary Khabat organization in the Northwest of Iran is a Kurdish- nationalist and Islamic movement. Khabat originated in 1979, when a coalition of Eşiret ( strains) was founded. Among the founders were Djelal Husseini, Khali Sherifian, Aram and Abdulla Abdul Karim Husseini.

History

After the overthrow of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the Kurds hoped for a peaceful coexistence with the majority Shiite population of Iran. At that time, Kurdish organizations began negotiations with Ayatollah Khomeini, in order to achieve a peaceful solution to the Kurdish areas. This failed, as the Kurds Khomeini declared jihad. There were armed clashes between the army and the Kurdish population of Iran. During this time the movement Khabat, which was first oriented Islamic and later also pursued nationalist objectives emerged. The movement has set itself the goal of preserving the rights of the Kurds in Iran and to obtain the Sunni faith.
