KHAD

Chidamāt -i Ittilā ʿ at- i Dawlati (Persian خدمات اطلاعات دولتی - The State Intelligence Service ), under the style similar to the English transcription Acronym Khad (of Khidamāt -i Ittilā ʿ at- i Dawlati ) is known, the Afghan intelligence was under the Soviet- backed government. It was founded in 1980. The Khad was originally under the leadership of Mohammed Najibullah, who in 1986 became president of Afghanistan.

Today's Afghan secret service, the National Directorate of Security, is colloquially also called in Afghanistan KHAD.
