Khaled Hosseini

Khaled Hosseini (Persian خالد حسینی / Halid Husayni; born March 4, 1965 in Kabul, Afghanistan ) is an American writer and physician of Tajik descent from Afghanistan.

Life

Hosseini's father was in the service of the Afghan Foreign Ministry and his mother taught Farsi and History at a girls' high school. Khaled Hosseini is the oldest of five children. From 1970 to 1973, the family lived in Tehran ( Iran). 1976, three years before the Soviet invasion, they moved to Paris, where his father was a post in the Afghan embassy.

Originally, the family should return to Kabul after four years. However, the Soviet intervention in Afghanistan prompted her home country to apply for political asylum in the United States, which was granted to the Hosseini 1980. The family settled in San Jose ( California). There they lived for some time on welfare, because they had lost their property in Afghanistan.

Hosseini earned his 1984 high school graduation and then participated in the Santa Clara University studying biology on which he completed in 1988 with the degree of Bachelor. In the following years he studied at the medical faculty of the University of California (San Diego ). He obtained his doctorate in medicine in 1993. In 1996, Hosseini his professional training as an internist at Cedars- Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles from. Since 1996 he works as an internist.

Khaled Hosseini had been interested as a child in literature and also wrote itself. In 2003 his first novel, The Kite Runner, in 2007 under the title The Kite Runner ( German title The Kite Runner ) was filmed appeared.

By the end of 2005, Hosseini interrupted his work as a doctor, to write on his second book A Thousand Splendid Suns. The German edition was published in August 2007 under the title A Thousand Splendid Suns. The action takes place, as in The Kite Runner, in Afghanistan. The third novel was published in May 2013 And the Mountains Echoed, which came out in German under the title dream collector in September 2013.

Khaled Hosseini is married and has two children.
