Khalid Hameed, Baron Hameed

Khalid Hameed, Baron Hameed, CBE DL ( born July 1, 1941) is a British politician and member of the House of Lords. He is from Lucknow, India.

He is a board derAlpha Hospital Group and chairman and CEO of the London International Hospital. In previous years he was CEO of the Cromwell Hospital in London.

He is on the board of the Commonwealth Youth Exchange Council. He is a committee member of the British Muslim Research Centre and the Ethnic Minorities Foundation. He is a member of the management of the Maimonides Foundation and trustee of The Little Foundation. Dr Hameed supports a number of charities and got 2005 Sternberg Award for his commitment to the Christian mulimisch -Jewish relations. He got a number of national and international honors. He is a Governor of the International Students House, President of The Little Foundation, Chairman of The Woolf Institute of Abrahamic Faiths and chairman of the Friends of the British Library. He was the first Asian -born Briton who was appointed by the Queen High Sheriff of Greater London. He held this position from 2006 to 2007. This office is over 1,000 years, the oldest in the country after the monarchy.

In February he was appointed Life Peer was announced. He was raised on 27 March 2007 as Baron Hameed for Life Peer. He sits as a cross Bencher in the House of Lords. He is a British Asian of the year 2007.

From the Government of India Padma Bhushan him 2009, the third highest Indian medal was awarded to civilians.
