Khalida Toumi

Khalida Toumi ( born March 13, 1958 in Ain Bessem, Kabylia, aka Khalida Messaoudi ) is an Algerian feminist and politician.

Life

After working as a mathematics teacher from 1984 to 1991 it was from 1992 to 1993 a member of the Conseil consultatif national ( CCN). From 1997 to 2002 she was a Member of Parliament for the constituency of Algiers in the National People's Assembly; between 2000 and 2001 she served as Vice President of the National Commission réforme du système éducatif ( CNRSE ).

Throughout her political career, she was in May 1985, a founder member and president of the first association of independent women and in March 1985 a founding member and Vice President of the first Algerian League for Human Rights. Since January 1992 she has been a member of VNSA and CCN. From April 1996 to 2001 she was a member of the Party of secularists (RCD), but was expelled in July 2001. October 1993, she was Vice -President of the Movement for the Republic ( MPR). May 9, 2003, she is Minister for Communications and Culture of Algeria.
