The Khalifa International Stadium (Arabic ستاد خليفة الدولي ) in ar - Rayyan west of Doha is the national stadium of Qatar. It was opened in 1976 with 20,000 seats and holds since the renovation in 2005, 50,000 spectators. The multi-purpose stadium with a track and field facility is part of a 250 -acre sports complex named Aspire Zone. At this site include, for example, the Aspire Dome; the largest indoor sports facility in the world, the Aspire Academy, Hamad Aquatic Centre Swimming Stadium and 318 meters high, Aspire Tower.

The Arena was the main sports venue of the Asian Games in 2006, where, among other things, the opening and closing ceremony of the games took place. In 2011, the Asian Cup was held in Qatar in which the Khalifa International Stadium was one of five venues. The national football teams of England and Brazil met each other a friendly match in Doha on November 14, 2009. The Brazilians won with a goal by Nilmar in the 47th minute 1-0.

Qatar is the host for the FIFA World Cup in 2022 and the Khalifa International Stadium, a planned venue.
