Khao Kho District

Amphoe Khao Kho ( Thai อำเภอ เขา ค้อ ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the province ( Changwat ) Phetchabun, northern Thailand.

Geography

Amphoe Khao Kho is almost completely covered by foothills of the Phetchabun Mountains.

Amphoe Khao Kho is in the northwest of the province of Phetchabun and borders seen from the east clockwise from the Amphoe Lom Kao Lom Sak and Mueang Phetchabun Province Phetchabun, to the Amphoe Noen Maprang, Wang Thong and Nakhon Thai province of Phitsanulok and Dan Sai in Loei province.

History

Khao Kho was formed as a small district ( King Amphoe ) on 21 August 1984 when the two Tambon Thung Samo and Khaem Son were spun off from the Amphoe Lom Sak then took place on 19 July 1991 to Amphoe this advancement.

Between 1965 and 1984 the area of Khao Kho was the scene of military clashes between the Thai army and insurgent communists who wanted to set up a retreat in the mountains here.

Management

Amphoe Khao Kho consists of 7 sub-districts ( tambon), which further into 72 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

There are also five " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
