Khao Manee

As Khao Manee a breed of domestic cat is called. Thai: ขาว มณี RTGS: " Khao Mani " means " White Jewel ". An equally common name is " Khao Plort ", meaning " all white ".

Appearance

The Khao Manee is wearing a white, short-haired, very thick coat which is applied close to the body. She has blue eyes, or one blue and one amber to golden or one blue and one green eye, which clearly stand out from the body color and brilliant or luminous effect because the tissues of the upper and lower eyelids is very bright. This is an almost exclusive characteristic of this breed. The body is medium in size, medium weight, elegant and muscular. The head is clearly structured and neither too long nor too short. This cat looks balanced in everything.

Nature

The Khao Manee is a balanced, playful cat with a strong bond to humans. How many Asians, they can be quite communicative, depending on the character. They have, like all other oriental cats also an intense common group life. Khao Manee should therefore never be taken as a single cat.

History

The Khao Manee is mentioned for the first time in a Thai manuscript from the Ayutthaya period, the "Cat poems " so-called ( Thai: ลักษณะ แมว 17 ชนิด = [ LAC sà - nà Maeo SIP ʤèt ʧá NIT ] ). The paper reports that the Khao Manee was allowed to be owned only by members of the royal family, and even in modern times were the first cats to leave the country until 1999.

Similar breeds

Often the Khao Manee is confused with many other breeds with white fur. In contrast to most other races, however, the fur of the Khao Manee is close to the body, and the eyes are bright with the bright tissue of the eyelids in vivid colors.
