Khao Phanom District

Amphoe Khao Phanom ( Thai: อำเภอ เขาพนม ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) of Krabi province. The Krabi Province is located in the southern region of Thailand.

Geography

Neighboring districts (from north clockwise): Amphoe Chai Buri and the Phrasaeng the province of Surat Thani, Amphoe Thung Yai of Nakhon Si Thammarat and Amphoe Lam Thap, Khlong Thom Nuea Khlong, Mueang Krabi, Ao Plai Phraya Luek and the province Krabi.

National park

The National Park Khao Phanom Bencha protected the forest around the Khao Phanom Bencha, with the 1397 meters above sea level the highest elevation of the province of Krabi.

History

On 1 December 1967, Khao Phanom first as a sub-district ( King Amphoe ) was established by the Tambon Khao Phanom, Khao Din, two villages of Amphoe Mueang Krabi Khok Yang of and Tambon Khlong Thom Sin Pun of Amphoe were merged. He got full Amphoe status on 29 June 1973.

Management

The Amphoe Khao Phanom is divided into six communes ( tambon), which in turn in 54 village communities ( Muban ) are divided.

Khao Phanom has a town status ( thesaban tambon), it includes parts of the tambon Khao Phanom.

Each tambon is a " Tambon Administrative Organization" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - Administrative organization ) managed.
