Kharoti

Kharoti is a tribe of Pashtuns in Afghanistan. The tribe has about 2.7 million members ( specified by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs in Kabul ) and is thus the largest tribe in Afghanistan. The root of the Kharoti derives from the tribe of Ghilzai.

Dissemination and personalities

The field of Kharoti covers: Kabul, Paktia, Paktika, Zabul, Kunduz, Laghman, Nangarhar, Bagram, Wardag, Lugar, Ghazni, Koh -e Sulaiman and Barmal. But even in the areas around Oragoon and on the other side of the border in Pakistan's tribal areas to the metropolis Karachi.

Most tribesmen of Kharoti have business in countries such as the USA, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan ( Karachi ) as well as in countries of the United Arab Emirates and Europe. Mostly it is these businesses in the textile sector.

The Kharoti strain was one of the first tribes of has its own committee, which is led by Haji Juma Gul in Pakistan Khan Kharoti. This makes needy Afghans support and also founded the Association which is led Kharoti Wellfare Haji Ameer Gul Kharoti.

The most prominent personalities of the Kharoti tribe are: Gulbuddin Hekmatyar (Chairman of the Hezb -e Islami Hafiz al-Amin, former Prime Minister ), Ustad Sayyaf ( Itehad -e -Islami ), Loy Khan Sher Khan ( Sher Khan Bandar ), Ghulam Sarwar Nasher and Mir Ahmad Khan Qader (deceased).

Since April 2, 2011 Naqibullah Shorish has been elected by the regional tribal elders for all districts statewide tribal leaders. Naqibullah Shorish was previously responsible as a tribal leader of the Kharoti for the District of Khaki Jabbar in the province of Kabul.
